2014 K2 SKIS & K2 SKI BOOT SNEAK PEEK + NOW ARRIVING!

By: Jake Garret, Denver, CO: Ahh…SIA would not be the same without seeing the familiar faces from our Seattle neighbors in Denver each year to show us the latest and greatest from K2. Here is the 2014 K2 Skis Sneak Peek from evo. K2 is now producing boots and they have a solid new line-up hitting the slopes this winter. While the team at K2 is also bringing back some of your favorite skis, K2 has retired a few others to make room in the line for some pretty awesome new pairs to continue to push the sport further.

2014 K2 Ski Boots

Yes, they are real and coming this fall! They are comfy too! One important thing to note is that you will not be able to purchase K2 Ski Boots online from any shop for the first year. That means you will have to head down to evo Seattle (or your local shop) to try these comfy boots on…and it will be well worth the trip!

K2′s new boot line is aimed squarely at freeriders and all-mountain skiers (racers need not apply), and includes 3 women’s specific models. Continue to scroll cause evo has the sneak peek for you below!

2014 K2 SpYne Ski Boot and 2014 K2 SpYre Women’s Ski Boots

K2 Spyne Boot Sneak Peek

Though they’ve been out of the boot game for a while, K2′s obviously been watching and taking notes. The all-mountain lines (SpYne for men, SpYre for women) come in 3 different flexes and offer improvements like rivet-free cuff fixing, K2′s PowerFuse SpYne reinforcing the rear cuff and shell area, great new Intuition® liners, and a choice of 97 mm or 100 mm lasts.

K2′s chosen to make the boots in Europe rather than China – make what you will of that, but suffice it to say that the best minds in the boot biz were never far away during the development of the line.

2014 K2 Pinnacle Ski Boots

2014 K2 Pinnacle boot

Two new freeride boots are set to take the crossover (alpine-to-backcountry) boot market by storm. In addition to a unique three-buckle + powerstrap closure system (the buckle stays on the strap, not the cuff), the Pinnacle 130 and 110 offer special Intuition® liners with Tour Flex cutouts in the Achilles area (much like Intuition’s own ProTour) and – and this is the clincher – a flat sole complete with Tech inserts that works with alpine, frame AT, or Tech bindings.

No more fiddling with inserts, swap plates or switching soles. If the compatibility issue is a big one for you, or if you think your current “crossover” boot gives up too much downhill performance or doesn’t have enough touring range of motion, you’ll want to check these boots out.

2014 k2 Shreditor 120, 112, and 102- BUY THEM NOW

2014 K2 shreditor

(Skis left to right: K2 Shreditor 102, 112, 120 K2 Pettitor)

K2′s ski department hasn’t exactly been asleep at the wheel either. Starting with a revised version of the flagship Pettitor, K2 is bringing the 5-point design that has big mountain freestylers totally amped this year down to two smaller waist widths. The skis are renamed Shreditor for 2014, and come in 120, 112 and 102 widths (Sean’s name stays on the 120, though).

If you’re looking for a soft snow-oriented quiver-of-one, don’t overlook the Shreditor 112 – it could well be the leader of the ~110 mm pack for next year. There’s more details about each Shreditor below so keep on scrolling.

2014 k2 Annex 118 and 108 Skis and CoomBack Skis- BUY THEM NOW

2014 K2 Annex

(Skis left to right: K2 Annex 98/108/118 K2 Seth)

The touring-oriented portion of the lineup gets a new look as well. The Annex 118 is a re-worked version of the SideSeth (it’s still Seth’s pro model, though), and K2 replaces the popular SideStash with the Annex 108. If you’re a SideStash lover, don’t worry, the ski is just as good and maybe even more versatile. A 98 mm waisted version takes the place of the Hardside, and the CoomBack soldiers on with a new Chugach-themed graphic. The tip and tail hardware for K2′s climbing skins gets an update, too. You no longer have to remove the plastic plug to install the skins, as a flexible plastic flap simply moves a bit and pops back after you remove the skins.
